TAKEAWAYS FROM THE EPISODE:
The papers and will were never signed before Ian passed. Petra says DO NOT procrastinate and think you will have tomorrow to get things done!
When necessary you have to have those “courageous conversations” with your loved ones. Those courageous conversations are about legacy and security and wording the conversation in a positive way so it’s not so scary to talk about it.
Petra’s book “Faith In The Fire” is about facing and overcoming adversity. It has key lessons and principles on how to walk through adversity and how to come through it with grace.
The key for Petra was the thing that kept her going. That “I was created for purpose before I became a wife, before my husband died.” So she had to reconnect with that.
If you’re thinking of writing a book, start with your table of contents or outline. If time is an issue - you have to block the time out, even if it’s 15 minutes a day.
Petra defines a widow coach: Here’s what they do…they are widows who provide you with the tools to help you facilitate in your grief, in your loss, and to really help you move forward.
The secret to living is GIVING!
